Gov. Ihedioha reiterates Commitment On Imo Rebuild Agenda
Imo State Governor, Hon.Emeka Ihedioha, CON, has said his administration will remain focused in the task of rebuilding the State from the ruins it was plunged into by the past administration in the State.
Speaking to a large number of youths at Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Governor Ihedioha said his administration will not be distracted by those he alleged that committed crimes against humanity from achieving set goal of the rebuilding the state.
He confirmed that he had set up various committees at the inception of his administration, pointing out that their submissions will give a better understanding of the depth of the rot in various sectors of the State perpetrated by the Okorocha led administration.
Governor Ihedioha hinted that his administration is passing through enormous challenges occasioned by the neglect. He however said they are making significant progress in various sectors of the State such as Health, Education, Agriculture among others.
While bemoaning the deplorable State of roads within and outside Owerri metropolis, he stated that palliative measures are used to ameliorate the sufferings of the people.
Said he, “We have embarked on palliative measures such as filling of potholes and taking others measures to manage the sorry states of our roads. Reconstruction of roads into quality roads in the will begin after the rains”.
Governor Ihedioha revealed that COREN and Nigeria Society of Engineers and the State Ministry of Works who were never allowed to do their jobs in the last eight years will be part of the roads rehabilitation in the State.
Governor Ihedioha used the opportunity to assure the youths that programmes are being created to engage and empower them.
He said his administration has also taken steps to instil discipline and plug leakages in the economy, by introducing the Treasury Single Account, TSA, a policy he said will ensure transparency in government financial transactions.
Urging the youths never to take to crimes, he reassured his administration’s commitment to security of lives, a charge he described as foremost.
He said the ongoing verification of pensioners is to ensure the right ones are paid, assuring that his administration will continue to keep faith to its promises to the people.
Speaking earlier, a youth leader from National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, Comrade Isdore Chukwuemeka, commended Governor Ihedioha for his focus and achievements so far made since the inception of his administration.
He warned that the youths will no longer tolerate distractions from former Governor Rochas Okorocha, vowing to resist him if he dares foment trouble in the state again.
