South East Chamber of Commerce inaugurates Okpara as 9th OCCIMA President on Thursday, Sept. 26
The South East Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (SECCIMA) will on Thursday, September 26, 2019 inaugurate Everest Okpara as the 9th President of Owerri Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture.
Recall that Okpara came in to bridge the gap created after the unfortunate passing of the last President of the OCCIMA, Reagan Nnadumije, a vibrant leader in private sector in the state. Ever since, Okpara has youthfully given the right leadership to the Chamber after its members considered him worthy to superintend their affairs.
Having been ratified by the Chamber as the substantive President, arrangements have been concluded for his formal inauguration and investiture by the South East zonal headquarters (SECCIMA) of National Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and agriculture (NACCIMA).
Mr Okpara has been a young vibrant leading figure in the Organized Private Sector in Imo State. He revolutionized medical services majorly in the south by bringing his American entrepreneurial orientation into this all important sector, having being trained in the United States of America.
Today, the culture is fast shifting from the old ways of self-medication because of wrong diagnosis. Today through Everight Diagnostic & Laboratory Services Ltd, South East, he has brought to bear International best practices in the sector by deploying state-of-the-art and up to date diagnostic medical equipment manned by those with the right expertise knowledge.
To up this service area of saving life, Okpara has gone a step ahead by establishing Centre for Molecular Science and Genetic Studies, the foremost Centre for Excellence in medical research. This will further expose our medical students to this most critical area of research and equip them to stand up to the contemporaries in the medical world.
For Okpara, it is not about the business but the sad tales and experiences of losing promising lives of Nigerians due to wrong diagnosis with wrong treatment. It was this pitiable situation that propelled him into venturing into this area to bring about a desired change.
