Land dispute: Anambra Police declares Chimamanda Adichie’s kinsmen wanted

The Anambra State Police Command has declared three suspects wanted over alleged cases of conspiracy and conduct likely to cause breach of peace in the state.

The suspects are kinsmen of famous novelist Chimamanda Adichie who recently condemned the alleged intimidation of people from her country home, Abba, Njikoka Local Government Area of the state, by the police.

She had accused the police of being used to humiliate and intimidate her people so as to lay claim to their ancestral land.

News Express reports that there is an ongoing land dispute between Adichie’s community and its neighbour, Ukpor in Dunukofia LGA.

In a statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Haruna Mohammed, he informed the general public that warrants of arrest was obtained by the police in respect of the arrest of the three suspects.

He reeled out their names to include Pius Nweke, Isaac Nwafor and Engr. Bennett Anekwe.

The statement said: “The Anambra State Police Command whishes to inform the general public that warrants of arrest was obtained by the Police in respect of the following suspects over alleged cases of conspiracy and conduct likely to cause breach of peace at Ukpo in Dunukofia LGA of Anambra State.

“They are as follows, Pius Nweke, Isaac Nwafor and Engr. Bennett Anekwe.

All males of Abba Community in Njikoka LGA of Anambra State.

“The Command enjoins the public with useful information that could lead to the arrest of the aforementioned suspects to contact the nearest Police Station/formations or call the Police emergency number 07039194332 for prompt action.”
