Jubilation as Gov. Ihedioha appoints grassroot youth leader, Opara as D.G Imo Orientation Agency
It was wild jubilation as Imo Governor, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha appointed Comrade Martin Chinagorom Opara as the Director-General, Imo State Orientation Agency.
Shortly after the announcement on Imo Government owned radio station, it created a spontaneous moment of frenzy as Imolites, especially the youths praised Governor Ihedioha for appointing Opara.
The Social media became a medium of expression of approval from Imolites.
Recall that Opara has been in the vanguard of ensuring equity and rotational principle in governance in Imo and Nigeria.
The fiery Educationist is known for his fearless stance on issues that boarder on good governance and welfare of the people.
He was the the President-General of Olu Owere, a zonal group that brokered agreement with Orlu zone and Okigwe zone to support Owerri zone to produce Imo Governor in 2019 from Owerri zone.
Opara and his group supported and encouraged most of the serious governorship hopefuls from Owerri zone, until, it became clearer that Ihedioha was the only man standing on a strong platform of Peoples Democratic Party.
Without any qualms, he pragmatically supported Ihedioha as he mobilized every sector of the state, including Imo professionals to rally round the candidature of Ihedioha.
The agency he is to steer its affairs is nonetheless, as at today, is empty and soundless gong. He is expected to revive it as it has been in comatose following many years of abandonment.
It is reported that the Agency even has roofless layout as it is extremely in a dilapidated state.
Ihedioha will be relying on Opara to take steps to create portent channels for mass mobilization with a view to ensuring that policies and programmes of his government is taken to the grassroots with feedback mechanism through proper channels.
It is noteworthy to mention that no policy succeeds if it is not owned by the people
The Apex political youth group in Orlu zone, Orluzurumee Youth wing, has congratulated him, assuring him of their avowed support for him to succeed.
Olu Owere youth leader, Comrd. Samuel Nwokocha described Opara’s appointment as a welcome development.
He said: “I must salute Governor Ihedioha for appointing Opara into an area where he is square peg in a square hole. Opara is a mobiliser. He does not discriminate as every group is his constituency. No doubt, the youths are happy to have him as Imo Orientation boss.”
For Kelechi Anyanwu, another youth leader and Educationist, he hails Ihedioha for Opara’s appointment, saying that Opara may belong to a political party but certainly a stubborn breed while standing for what is right. “I have known BIM since our school days. We played the politics in the State Union, Opara was outstanding and was loved by all. I believe he will do well if given the right environment and tools to work.”
However, his endorsement is across party lines even though most of them have pleaded with NewsTrack for anonymous status so as not to jeopadise their standing in the party.

The ball is now in Opara’s court to perform or bungle it.
