Duncan Mighty is in our custody over alleged fraud, not abducted – Imo Police Command

Contrary to the rumour making the rounds that popular music artiste, Duncan Mighty was abducted by gunmen, Nigerian Police, Imo State Command has debunked that, disclosing that he is in their custody as he was arrested over an alleged fraud.
In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ikeokwu Godson Orlando, the Commissioner of Police had given a clarification, informing the general public that the popular artiste was never abducted but was arrested following a petition by a rap artiste M2 who claimed that Mighty had fraudulently defrauded him of N11 million deal.
According the statement, Duncan Mighty had blatantly refused to keep his own part of the deal after receiving the fund said to have been paid by the former Governor of Imo State, Chief Ethelbert Okorocha.
When NewsTrack Nigeria called the PPPRO, Imo State Command, he said that the Command has been very professional, having treated him with high level deference. He narrated how Duncan Mighty had been treated like a Prince after he had agreed he collected the said sum.
Meanwhile, Duncan Mighty had agreed to refund the money to the M2 but had since then refused to pick calls or even respond to a messages until he was caught in Owerri today.
The statement reads:
“TODAY 14/12/19 operatives of the command arrested popular music artist DUNCAN MIGHTY on an allegation of FRAUD.
This followed a petition written by an upcoming rap artist M2, who claimed that the IMO state Government led by Owelle Rochas Okorocha, through the office of the SA on Entertainment, enter into a deal with DUNCAN MIGHTY to manage, promote, arrange Collaboration with other top artist and sign M2 under YOUNG WEALTH record label owned by Duncan Mighty,as a result an agreement was reached with a fee of ELEVEN MILLION NAIRA (N11,000,000) was paid to him.
However, since collecting the payment he refused to fulfill his own part of the deal.
Sequel to the petition, the artist was arrested, and he affirmed the having such agreement and collecting the fund, but said he can only refund the money if the contract is terminated,he was then released on bail on self recognition.
Consequently, a letter was recieved by the representative of the former Governor, terminating the contract to enable him refund the money, and since then he absconded, and all efforts made to reach him proved abortive.
In view of the above, a warrant of arrest was issued, that led to his arrest at the early hours of this morning.”
