JUST IN: Finally, State Security Service releases Sowore

Following the order of the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Attorney General and the Minister of Justice, Malami Abubakar in compliance to the bail order of the court, the State Security Services (SSS) has released the convener of #RevolutionNow protest Omoyele Sowore.

Sahara Reporters, which he owns, broke the news on its verified Twitter handle @SaharaReporters.

It tweeted: “He was released on Tuesday evening following an order to the Department of State Services by Nigeria’s Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), for his freedom.”

Recall that Sowore had been granted bail by a court of competent jurisdiction but was rearrested on December 6 whereas there were no new charges leveled against him as revealed by his lead counsel, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN).

The incident drew so much criticism and condemnation from Human Rights activists, Civil Society organisation.

The crescendo  of the vexatious  issue was the when the United States Congressman, Senator Bob Menendez join in the call for President Buhari led government to obey the Rule of Law.
