Celebrate your loved ones while they are still alive, Says Madumere
The immediate past Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere has called on the good people of Imo State and Nigerians to learn to celebrate loved ones and those who have distinguished themselves when they are still alive.
Prince Madumere made the call on Saturday while speaking to newsmen at the 81st Birthday Thanksgiving  of Major General Lincoln Ogunewe (rtd) mother, Ezinne Stella David Ogunewe in Akpodim, Ezinihitte local government area of Imo State.
Prince Madumere said he is averse to the idea of spending the world in celebrating the dead, preferring to utilise such resources to cater, empower and celebrate such loved ones when alive.
He therefore commended the former Nigeria’s Military Adviser to the United Nations and Dean of Military and Police Advisers Community in New York, United States, General Ogunewe for choosing to appreciate and celebrate his lovely mother.
“Today I have come to celebrate Mama, Ezinne Stella Ogunewe as she  marks 81 years in good health and still looking very young physically and at heart.
“What I find most interesting is the contributions of his  children to our State, Nigeria and the world at large. For a woman who played such a vital role towards grooming his children into world sort after personalities must be celebrated. It takes a lot of sacrifices to so achieved especially when her husband had transited.
“And for our friend, General Lincoln Ogunewe, his siblings and other family members, I commend them because this is the right way to go! Mama must be very proud of them all. If you love and care for me, if you have it, do it now is my message. I pray God to bless Mama and his children abundantly, grant her sound health and many more years of peace and joy,” he submitted.
In the same vein, a business mogul, who came with Imo former Deputy Governor, Chief Sir Tony Ezeani eulogised Mama  Ogunewe for raising up personalities who are of great resourcefulness to the country and beyond, saying she deserves  all the accolades.
“Major Ogunewe is like an elder brother and we are very close. So, when I heard  that they will be celebrating Mama’s 81st Birthday with a Thanksgiving service, my brother, the  former Deputy Governor, Prince Madumere and I agreed not just to come but  to be part of the Church Service. Behold, we are here. We pray  God to grant Mama many more years with good health.
“I also pray for my brother, General Lincoln Ogunewe that God continues to guide him, protect and  grant desires of his heart even in retirement with so much energy to accomplish so much, ” he stated.
Meanwhile, the event was a veritable platform for convergence of Military Generals who came out in the good numbers to grace the occasion in honour of one of their very own, General Ogunewe.
