I am die hard APC but must be seen as a Stakeholder in Imo Affairs – Madumere
Reacting to the misgivings embroiling in Imo State chapter of All Progressives Congress, the immediate past Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere has cleared the air, saying that he remains an unrepentant member of APC and a ardent believer of its philosophy.
Prince Madumere made the statement while addressing APC faithful at a meeting called at the instance of the Director General, New Partnership for African Development (NEPAD), Hon. Princess Akobundu’s residence, Owerri, Imo State.
He commended Princess Akobundu for taking the initiative to call our party leaders and faithful together to discuss and get informed on the happenings.
He however took a swipe at some members of the party who are destroying the party by their conducts and wrong orientation of living by perfidy.
He explained that as the former Deputy Governor of the State and by his status in the State as stakeholder and leader, he cannot afford not to add a voice in issues that concern the welfare of people of the State.
Speaking further, he said “the season of politicking is over and we must guide our loins to play our role as formidable opposition, add our voice through constructive criticism, designing a blueprint of what to do differently to improve the living standard of our people”.
He wondered why people should be worried seeing him in a photograph with the Governor of the state at events, describing such as irritable and Balderdash.
His words: “I am a founding member of APC and nothing can change that. I have never nursed any intention of leaving a party I played a role during its foundation.
“For those of you who live in perfidy, I am never known for such. My records and antecedents are there for anyone to see. Whatever you feel you don’t understand, ask me and I will explain to you.
“Some of you are even spreading lies here and there that I have joined PDP. Mind you, elections are over and by virtue of my position as a stakeholder in the state, when I am invited for an event that borders on the development of the state, I shall attend.
“It is time for governance and planning. The reality of today is that we have a Governor in place. Some gossip that you see me on photograph with Rt. Hon. Ihedioha. For your information, wherever and whenever I see my Governor, I shall waste no time to embrace him and exchange pleasantries. I don’t play such politics of bitterness. I know God will surely weed off all the tares in the field.
“When issues that boarder on socio-economic development of the state rise and I am called upon to help proffer solution, should I because I am APC allow things to go wrong.
“You do not win elections by keeping malice and quarreling with everybody. Anybody can be won over but it depends on how you manage yourself and your relationship with people. There is nobody I cannot win for the party because I don’t play politics of vendetta.
“I know what anti party activities are. We must be careful in what we do and what we say about our leaders. There are those who are confirmed enemies of the State who by their actions and inactions have put the party in a very difficult situations. They stripped and raped the party in such a reckless manner. Some even used the party for personal pursuits.
“What is important is that we are in control of power at the Federal. We have Mr. President as our leader and that is what matters. We must be calling meetings to keep our house in order and strategise. We must criticise objectively. What should be paramount in our mind should be how design a blueprint to rebuild and repackage our party in the state.
He commended Princess Akobundu for taking the bold step to call everyone together and assured everyone that the party will bounce back but right things must be done.
“I commend Prince Akobundu for taking this bold step, I also want to thank our leaders her – State Chairman of our great party, Chief Marcon Nlemigbo, Chief Theodore Ekechi, Elder EJK Onyewuchi, Chief Clement Anozie, APC State Organising Secretary, 27 local government Chairmen and our distinguished party faithful.
“Let us take this message home. We must come together and forge ahead. Thank you and God bless.
