New Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma of All Progressives Congress, (APC) with his deputy, Prof. Placid Njoku has been sworn-in as the Governor by the Chief Judge of Imo State.
Senator Uzodimma who was sworn-in, Wednesday, by Justice Paschal Nnadi at the cenotaph along concord road.
Yesterday, he was declared validly elected by the Supreme Court as he also received the Certificate of Return by INEC after over four hours delay earlier today.
Speaking, the governor stressed that he will bring credible leadership to bear in the governance of the state. Uzodimma however regretted that the citizenry had been denied their choice of leadership and promise to live up to expectations.
His words “Let me start by recognizing the national chairman of my party, Adams Oshiomole and former governors of our party in the state. This victory is of God and I dedicate this victory to God. I express my gratitude to God at this historic moment”.
“The judiciary stands out for important recognition, the judiciary has proven to be the last hope of the common man, even when they came up with technicalities the judiciary still stand firm.
“ I thank the Imo electorate for their support and I must admit that the success of today cannot be possible without the input of our party APC”
He also commended members of the National working committee for working assiduously for the success recorded by the party.
“ The time to build the new Imo of our dream is now,this victory is for all Imo people. My victory against corruption and Victory for justice.
“I shall execute the 3rs of my administration, reconstruction, rehabilitation and recovery. I shall begin reconciliation among our leaders.” The Accountant General is given four working days to submit to my office, a comprehensive statement of the expenditure and income of Imo state.
“I will give the judiciary the necessary powers that they deserve and all permanent secretaries and heads of parastatals, are to summit comprehensive statement of contracts awarded and payments made so far and state of the contracts. I will allow all arms of the government to work in the principle of separation of powers.”
APC Party faithful and stakeholders trooped to the venue of the exercise and were wearing cheerful looks at the venue of the occasion.
