JUST IN: Court sentences Maryam Sanda to death by hanging for killing hubby

Finding her guilty for killing her husband, Bilyaminu Bello, High Court sitting in Abuja has sentenced Maryam Sanda to death.

Recall that Maryam Sanda has been facing trial for culpable homicide.

She was reported to have stabbed her husband to death on November 19, 2017 following allegation of infidelity against her hubby after reading a text message on his phone.

Bilyaminu was the son of the former National Chairman of People’s Democratic party, Dr. Hilaru Bello.

The condemned Sanda was cahrged alongside her mother, former Managing Director of Aso Savings, Hajia Maimuna Aliyu and their house help, Sadiya Aminu.

The former MD of Aso Savings was cahrged for being an accomplice and for assisting the daughter to conceal evidence by cleaning the blood of late Bello from the scene of the crime.

Justice Yusuf Halilu, the trial Judge pronounce Sanda guilty of homicide and deserve to die.

He said: “Convict clearly deserve to die. I therefore sentence Sanda to death by hanging.”

Dawning on her the gravity of the sentence, Maryam Sanda broke down in tears.

Maryam Sanda wept uncontrollably on Monday at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja.

She broke down in tears after Justice Yusuf Halilu convicted her for the death of her husband, Bilyaminu Bello.
