The newly appointed Executive Chairman of Imo State Internal Revenue Service,IIRS, by Gov.Hope Uzodinma, Prince Emma Onunaku, has assured that the management of IIRS under his watch shall hit the target of about N2 billion as the year 2020, promising to achieve the target with his wealth of experiences without stress.

The Chairman of IIRS, Onunaku, made
assertion, Monday, February 17, 2020 during an interaction with newsmen in Owerri, Imo State.

Responding to questions on his plans and preparations, Prince Onunaka expressed optimism that through his capacity as a well trained financial manager,he would professionally block all the revenue linkages to achieve the set target.

While commending the efforts of his predecessors but observed that they were not not professionals, even as promised to reactivate all the IGR offices in the 27 LGA’s of the state.

He noted various challenges militating against the growth and increase in the Imo IGR, pointing out the need for Proper Staffing, Reorientation of worker’s attitude and ensuring they have the requisite knowledge of their environment.

On the issue of touting, the Chairman vowed to tackle it head on but called on those involved to desist, even as he noted that his office shall synergise with relevant agencies to ensure that the state makes the best of the oppprtunties to raise its financial status.

Onunaku encouraged Imo tax payers to consistently endeavour to pay their taxes as such would help in the development of Imo State.

He further called on Imolites to always register their vehicles, as he promise to make it easy for everyone since he would be reactivating offices in all the local government areas.

“We urge Imolites outside the state and in Diaspora to come home to inves. I also appeal to our people to pay their taxes in the areas they live. They are only contributing to the growth of Imo State by partiotically paying their tax”, Onunaku submitted.

Recall that under the former Governor Emeka Ihedioha’s administration, Imo IGR for the first time hit over N1 billion in 7 months, a feat that revealed that Imo IGR had been going to the pocket of unpatriotic individuals.
