Madumere pays tribute to late Senator Uwajumogu

The former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere has paid glowing tributes to late Senator Benjamin Uwajumogu describing him as a man with large heart, whose sacrifices during the dark days of struggle would ever be remembered for generations to come.

Prince Madumere stated this, Tuesday, shortly after a valedictory session in honour of late Uwajumogu in Imo State House of Assembly, Owerri.

The former Deputy Governor recounted: “During his reign in the 7th Assembly as the Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, he ensured a stable relationship with the executive, which at a time, I was the liaison. He had a way of managing his colleagues. He gave the right leadership and he also had a way of getting what they wanted from the system.

“For me, the height of his leadership was his obstinacy during the political turmoil in the state. He chose to be on the part of the people. Yes, posterity will remember him well for saying no when it mattered most despite room to negotiate whatever he wanted though may be self-serving and ephemeral, but he said no.

“I am not saying that anything has gone wrong but history is for us all to learn from the mistakes and worthy decisions of the past. So, my friends, surely these questions will come back to us all someday, it may even come after we may have all gone.”

Prince Madumere further hailed the members of the 9th Assembly and the former lawmakers who came out in great numbers to pay their last respect to the transited Senator after accomplishing his task on the earth.

He however condoled Uwajumogu family and urged them to remember what Uwajumogu stood for and ensure that those cherished virtues are preserved. He prayed God to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

Late Senator Benjamin Uwajumogu will be finally laid to rest on Friday, February 21, 2020.
