I can’t flout Gov.Uzodinma’s directives – says IIRS Chairman

Responding to the recent the news paper publication made by the publishers of the Starpost Express Newspaper Owerri, on last Monday, March 2nd 2020, with the caption:”Revealed: Onunaku flouts Gov.Uzodinma’s directives…his relationship with PDP, describing him as mole in IIRS”.

Following that report, the Executive Chairman of Imo State Internal Revenue Service, IIRS, Prince Emma Onunaku, in his Owerri office, told newsmen that he can not flout Gov.Hope Uzodinma’s directives, vowing he has no relationship with PDP moles in IIRS.

Prince Onunaku, while speaking, debunked the newspaper publication made against his office as he described the allegation as false, baseless and unfounded from his political detractors who does want his progress but called the media to embark investigative journalism.

“The reporters of the said tabloid should have first balanced their reportage before going to the print. I am using this medium to advise all media persons to dwell on professionalism as trained journalists for the general interest of the public”, IIRS Boss appealed.

“On assumption of office, I was told to lay off all those earlier engaged by the immediate past Chairman of the Service and I did as instructed. I don’t have such powers to flout the directives of the Imo State Governor but I am here to professionally increase the State’s Internally Generated Revenue”, Onunaku submitted.

The IIRS Boss, Prince Onunaku, called on the public to disregard such unfounded publication by those whom he described as gang up men who are against the prosperity of the Service.

In his words, Prince Onunaku, vowed to increase the State’s Monthly IGR from his earlier target of N1b to N1.5b, if given all the necessary input.

Meanwhile,Prince Onunaku, said, “the only person that was not laid off from the immediate past leadership of IIRS was the Internet/Online Manager, Mr. Uchenna Enyinnaya because of his useful wealth of experience towards revenue drive and there is no other person.
