SUPREME COURT GUBER VERDICT REVIEW:  Imo Congress of America (ISCA) calls for calm

Following the agitations and the Peoples Democratic Party’s insistence on review and reverse of the Supreme  Court verdict, and calling for the restoration of Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha as the Governor of Imo State while calling for disqualification of Senator Hope, Uzodinma, the Imo State Congress of America has called for calm, urging Imolites to allow reason to prevail.

Recall that the apex court had sacked   Rt. Hon. Ihedioha as the governor of Imo State on January 14, 2020 while declaring Senator Hope Uzodinma as the validly  elected Governor of Imo State. However, in response,  Ihedioha and the PDP had approached the Supreme Court to review it’s judgment and reverse same.

With the political quargmire the development has brought to the state, raising threat level among the political class and their loyalists, hence the call by ISCA on the people of the state to remember that the two gladiators are all Imolites and should not allow the ongoing legal process to divide the people of State.

In a statement by the President of Imo State Congress of America, Engr. Sampson Udeh, it reads:

“We the members of Imo State Congress of America wish to call on our people in Imo State to be calm in the face of the ongoing legal process, especially the Supreme Court Verdict review, which comes on Tuesday, March 3, 2020.

“We are not unaware of the agitations and various levels of antagonism among our people. We should be reminded that the two political actors in question are first Imo sons.

“What is going on is rather a democratic process and as it takes its full course whosever that emerges should be accepted as our Governor. What is important is to usher in a progressive Imo where the welfare of our people will be uppermost.

“We canvass for spirit of sportsmanship just as we expect an olive branch from whosever emerges. And for our people, we should also help to create an atmosphere of peace and tranquility so as not to give room for distractions and excuses for our leaders.

“We also urge the contestants at the court to take whatever the outcome of March 3 review may be, bearing in mind that what matters is the people and they cannot be allowed to suffer. Let us not forget that the primary reason for seeking elective office is to contribute to the development of the state and ultimately foster prosperity of the people.”
