Uzodinma is Court-elected governor, we will not recognise him as Imo governor, says Onyeagocha-

Hon. Uche Onyeagocha, a former House Representatives member and immediate past Secretary to the State Government under Emeka Ihedioha’s short lived eight-month reign as the Governor of Imo State has tacitly said that Emeka Ihedioha’s sack by the Supreme Court was a calculated conspiracy hatched against 2023 political permutation.

The fiery politician made the statement during a political programme on Channels Television, Tuesday, March 3 2020 shortly after the apex court dismissed Ihedioha’s application for review of the Supreme verdict that sacked him on January 13, 2020.

His words: “It is all about 2023. They always wanted a stake in the South-East. They found Imo convenient because it already had a stake in the state before, so decided to take it.

Ihedioha had approached Supreme Court to review its judgment and possibly reverse its verdict by disqualifying Senator Hope Uzodinma whom it had declared as the validly elected Governor of Imo State.

For Centus Justice Nweze, he found merit in Ihedioha’s appeal and dissented by calling on Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to give Ihedioha Certificate of return. He also held that the apex court has the inherent power to reverse itself.

According to Onyeagocha, he said that the Supreme Court knows that it erred in its verdict, explaining that it was the reason it did not impose any fine against Ihedioha’s Counsels.

Governor Uzodinma, having extended the olive branch to Ihedioha and loyalist in the spirit sportsmanship, he called on Ihedioha’s team to join him in developing the State.

Onyeagocha speaking for Ihedioha’s team said: “We will never recognise him as the Governor of Imo State. He is an unelected governor. He is Supreme court-elected governor. So, it is not possible for us to work with him. Any one of us in the group who feels like doing so is free to go ahead. But we will never recognise him as our governor, because he is not
