Attack on Buhari: Presidency clears the air
The Presidency has cleared the air on the alleged attempt to attack President Muhammadu Buhari during his official visit to Kebbi State yesterday, Thursday, March 12, 2020.
Security operatives had swiftly pounced on an unidentified man who wanted to jump at the President during a photo session in the fame fishing town Argungu.
The man had approached the president who posed with other dignitaries and attempted to reach him but was quickly wrestled down by the security cordon around the president.
The Presidency, however, tried to downplay the incident, with presidential spokesman Garba Shehu explaining later in an interview with Nigerian Tribune that the man was simply over-excited without knowing the security implications of his manner of approach.
“The man had approached the president who posed with other dignitaries and attempted to reach him but was quickly wrestled down by the security cordon around the president,” Shehu told the paper.
