Bar Forum bemoans abuse of lawyers, others, blames Fed. Govt. of laxity towards preventing codiv-19

The chairman governing council of Eastern Bar Forum( EBF) Barr. Soseipriye Long Williams has condemned the spate of abuse of the rights of lawyers and other citizens of Nigeria stressing their must be proactive measures to resist every act of brutalization from the police and other security personnel.

Barr Williams stated this during their quarterly general meeting held Saturday at NBA Owerri branch Bar center high court complex Owerri Imo state.

According to him, in the arrest and prosecution of any alleged offender of the law, due process must be followed and while insisting that resort to brutalization must cease pronto.

“We must all refuse to allow some characters, charlatans and misguided persons in the name of law enforcement to relapse Nigeria into a state of nature”, he said.

He further urged the federal government to take necessary step against the spread of Coronavirus in the country, adding that government acted to late against the prevention.

“What we are suffering now is the laxity of government by allowing foreign flights to enter the country. If our Borders were properly checked and foreign flights banned, we wouldn’t have had these challenges we are facing now”, he stated.

Barr. Nnamdi Anagor EBF Publicity secretary also noted that their members were drawn from all the old Eastern states of the nation pointing out that the meeting also offered them the opportunity to discuss on their forthcoming NBA election and the possible means of supporting their members who might vie for any position.
