South East should show gratitude to President Buhari – Prince Madumere
Amid call on President Mohammadu Buhari to review strategies to calming the heightened security threats in the country, former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere has given the President credits in infrastructural development, describing him as detribalised leader.
Prince Madumere made the appreciation while speaking on Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) live programme, Political Matters.
Evaluating President Buhari’s five years in office, he said that President Buhari has kept the promises he made to the South East.
He praised President Buhari for delivering on his promise to actualize much touted second Niger Bridge, which is over 70% near completion, the ongoing renovation of Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, which is at a very appreciable stage.
He also praised him for the ongoing Federal Roads – Enugu – Port-Harcourt Express Way, Onitsha –Enugu Express Road, Aba – Owerri Express Way among many other strategic projects.
He therefore urged those describing President Buhari as sectional leader to desist from such, observing that 16 years of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) wounded up with mere promises but no action.
His words: “Certainly Mr. President has exceeded all expectations in the South East, not minding that some section of people still refer to him as a sectional leader. South East should stand to appreciate President Buhari for his effort. 16 years of PDP could not construct Second Niger Bridge. The ongoing transformation of Enugu International Airport (Akanu Ibiam International Airport), rehabilitation of Onitsha – Enugu Expressway, Enugu – Port-Harcourt Airport and many other strategic projects are borne out of the selfless service leadership of President Buhari”.
In the same vein, Prince Madumere called on the members of the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC) to be calm in the face of the raging internal misgivings, saying that the party has all it takes to manage its challenges.
He therefore urged members of APC to remain united to move the party forward, saying that in every family, there is bound to be periodic challenges. “What matters is the capacity and maturity to know the red line and when to seat and talk”, he stated.
