Ize-Iyamu denies Oshiomole, Says he’s not his god-father
Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the winner of All Progressives Congress Edo governorship primary election has tacitly denied the embattled suspended All Progressives Congress National Chairman, Adams Oshiomole as his godfather.
The APC Standard Bearer made the startling statement, Monday, while fielding questions during a life programme on Channels Television, Politics Today anchored by Seun Okinbaloye.
By his continual silence, Ize-Iyamu insisted that God is his godfather and would rather not denigrate and insult Oshiomole for any reason.
“I have a very close relationship with God. Most things people have considered obstacle have turned to upliftment.
“Oshimiole is not my godfather but he is our leader as the National Chairman of our party. He can only man his boot on the day of election. I will work with the good people of Edo State and other leaders to win my election.”
Also responding to the strength of the opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party, he said he is confident he will win the September 19 governorship election.
“Those denigrating me in PDP were there when I also beat every one of them to fly PDP flag in the last election. I do not expect them to clap for me because I am now in APC.”
With his emergence as the APC candidate and with Oshiomole switching to PDP, the die is cast and the epic battle for the soul of Edo State for the next four years has begun.
However, the two candidates still have huddles to cross with litany of court suits, internal maneuvering among other hiccups.
The returning Officer for Edo All Progressives Congress direct primary election had announced Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu the winner with 27, 838 votes topping others.
