FG reopens schools for graduating students, lifts ban on inter-state movement
The Federal Government, Monday, June 29, 2020, announced the reopening of schools as part of modifications to the COVID-19 lockdown, the phase two of which it extended for another 30 days.
The resumption is, however, limited to graduating Primary 6, Junior Secondary School 3 (JSS 3) and Senior Secondary School 3 (SSS 3) students preparing to write their final examinations.
Chairman of the COVID-19 Presidential Task Force (PTF), Boss Mustapha, announced this during today’s briefing by the Task Force in Abuja.
On his part, National Coordinator of the COVID-19 PTF, Dr. Sani Aliyu, stressed that all primary and daycare centres remain closed until further evaluation.
Other classes in Secondary schools as well as Tertiary institutions remain closed, he also said.
On inter-state movement, PTF Chairman, Boss Mustapha, announced the lifting of the ban on inter-state travel with effect from July 1, saying, however, that all movement must take place outside the curfew period of 10pm – 4am daily.
Mr. Mustapha, who is also the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), equally announced that airports would soon reopen in phases.
