The former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere has expressed shock over the passing of an Elder Statesman and former Minister under the regime of Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, describing his death as a big loss to Nigeria.

He however noted that what matters are the legacies one bequeaths to the society, stating that Nwoga contributed to the development of Nigeria.

“Though he died at a ripe age of 85, as a sage, his experience and wisdom could still have counted. I believe that his works and legacies in the state and Nigeria at large will continue to be useful for a long time.

“I bid him farewell and call on our people to tap into those positive virtues of the late sage, saying that he was a personality who influenced the society, praying God to grant his soul an eternal rest.

In the same vein, he said he lost a friend, leader and mentor in late Dr. Ezekiel Izuogu.

He relayed Izuogu had encouraged and advised him rightly during his ordeal.

“This is the first time I am speaking about the great Izuogu. I was quite close to him. He advised me at a time I was going through challenges.

“His ingenuity is no secret. He was one of the greatest gifts Africa ever had from God. He invented an engine and manufactured our first car.

“I am happy that some great minds have taken over from him. It is true that ideas belong to the society but when distilled, it should never be allowed to die.

“I charge our leaders to listen to our great minds. When they come up with come with an invention, we should make the best of it by ensuring that the potentials are optimized.

“Great Ezekiel Izuogu of Africa will be really missed. May his soul rest in peace!”
