IMO NORTH BYE-ELECTION: We Will Not Tolerate Violence In Today’s Primaries – Election Panel

The All Progressives Congress election panel for the Imo North bye election, led by Ajibola Bashiru, yesterday arrived Imo and headed straight to the Party Secretariate, where Imo State APC Chairman, Prince Marcellinus Nlemigbo received them in audience.

Their visit cleared every doubt as to who the recognised Chairman of the party is, thereby burying the notion of factionalisation of the party.

Bashiru speaking alongside seven other members to stakeholders and aspirants on the guidelines of Imo North bye election under the chairmanship of Nlemigbo said that the panel would not tolerate any form of violence during the primaries that will hold today (Thursday)

According to Bashiru, “Those that will be allowed to participate are only members that are registered members with our APC card. We will use direct primary in this exercise.

“Any ward we have record of disorderliness or violence that ward will be cancelled. Our own mandate is to conduct it in free and fair manner. We are not here to impose anybody on the party we shall do our work without fear or favour.”

When some of the aspirants who came for the meeting were engaged to know their feelings, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, said: “You see in an election like this they are supposed to publish the places where the election will take place. So that we will have time to do correction. So that people will not be confused.”

But Chidimma Uwajumogu said: “I am satisfied with the guidelines so far, I see a violent free election and you see that eleven people are contesting and I pray that i will be the winner.”

Other top aspirants included; Senator Attan Achonu, Chikwem Onuoha, Acho Ihim, Mark Uchendu, Frank Ibezim, Eze Okoro, Osy Nwebo, , Bright Nwachukwu, Matthew Omeghara.

Some of the stakeholders at the briefing were the Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Chiji Collins, former Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere among others.
