Okorocha’s APC Chair, Nwafor Suspended, Recommended for Expulsion

As the battle over the soul of Imo State All Progressives Congress rages, the former governor of Imo State faction of the party are already harvesting  casualties.

NewsTrack Nigeria (NTN) can confirm that Daniel Maduka Nwafor has been suspended from the party for gross misconduct, indiscipline and violation of APC Constitution and NEC directives.

The letter conveying the decision of the party signed by the Chairman, Prince Marcellinus Nlemigbo titled: “RE: SUSPENSION FROM MEMBERSHIP OF THE ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS PARTY (APC) FOR GROSS INDISCIPLINE AND VIOLATION OF APC CONSTITUTION AND NEC DIRECTIVES”, reads:

“Following the recommendation of the discplinary committee set up by the State Caretaker Committee of our great party; and your refusal to honour repeated invitations to appear before the committee to answer to allegations of gross indiscipline, insubordination and violation of Article 21A(i), (ii), (iii), (iv), (vi), (vi), (vii) and (x) of the constitution of the All Progressives Congress.

“Consequently, you are hereby suspended from the party forthwith and recommended for expulsion from the party by the appropriate authorities under the constitution.”

The national leadership of APC led by Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State  had written the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognise Nlemigbo as the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Imo APC, thereby resolving the battle of leadership.

However, in defiance, Nwafor whose administration was dissolved 2018 was reported to have refused to allow peace a chance as he has continued to parade himself as Chairman of the party despite the order of the court.

In reaction to the latest development of sanction and recommendation for expulsion, Okorocha’s camp has also written, claiming to have suspended Chief Marcellinus Nlemigbo from the party.

It is expected that the party will wield the big stick so as to restore order and decorum in the party.
