Stop Complaining About Lack of Funds for Business, Says Ex – CBN Manager
The Chief Executive of one of the front line Entrepreneurs Development Institute (EDI), Homeland Consult & Training Institute, Chief (Mrs.) Sarah Anaba has commended President Mohammadu Buhari led Federal Government for its focus and resolve to strengthen Agricultural sector, Small and Medium Enterprise.
Mrs. Anaba made the commendation while fielding questions on Central Bank of Nigeria/Nirsal Micro-finance Agribusiness, Small and Medium Enterprise Investment Scheme, describing it as one of the best approaches taken towards achieving food security and sustainable economic development.
Sarah said the scheme is well designed, appreciating the aspect of training in financial intelligence, discipline and business ethics before empowering applicants.
Recounting some of the benefits in agricultural sector and agribusiness, she said Covid – 19 presented the needed opportunity to evaluate the impact of federal government economic policies, saying that over 90 percent of Nigerians have depended on Nigerian food crops, particularly rice, yam, cassava by-products among others.
The CBN retiree maintained agriculture, small and medium enterprises remain the key to sustainable economic development.
On the success of her EDI, she said she is most happy that Nigerians are accessing the loan as they have already kick-started their businesses.
Her words, “I want to wholeheartedly commend President Mohammadu Buhari led federal government for the huge investments in agriculture, small and medium scale enterprise.
“The complaints for lack of fund to power a business plan is in the past because the federal government through CBN/Nirsal Micro-finance bank loan scheme
“Many Nigerians are accessing these loans and are utilizing it. What matters is the value chain in economic development because there is hardly any of these businesses that will not provide direct and indirect employment to Nigerians either for unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled workers.
“I believe in training and I believe in strategic planning. This is the reason why I commend the approach of training in entrepreneurial skills and business ethics before qualifying them to upload a business plan.
