PORT HARCOURT TO MAIDUGURI RAILWAY LINE: Buhari Is Passionate about Nigeria’a Development, Says Madumere

Imo State former Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere has described President Muhammadu Buhari a true passionate and patriotic leader who is focused on his set goal of making Nigeria great.

Madumere’s statement was expressed in a press release by his Adviser, Media & Publicity, Uche Onwuchekwa.

According to the statement, Madumere specifically commended President Buhari over the recent approval of Port-Harcourt to Maiduguri rail line with branches in the eastern region of the country.

The Hon. Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi had announced the Federal government approval of $3.02 billion for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of Port-Harcourt to Maiduguri Rail line, which will be extended to other States in the region.

Minister of Transportation’s words: “The Federal Executive Council FEC has approved the award of contracts for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the Port Harcourt-Maiduguri eastern narrow-gauge railway, with new branch lines and trans-shipment facilities,” he said.

Mr Amaechi said the FEC also approved contracts for the construction of a deep-sea port in Bonny as well as a railway industrial park in Port Harcourt.

“They’ve also approved the construction of a new deep seaport in Bonny, under PPP and the construction of a railway Industrial park in Port Harcourt.

“The railway line will be at the cost of $3,020,279,549. The industrial park, which is under PPP, at no cost to the federal government, will cost $241,154,389.31. The Bonny deep seaport will cost $461,924,369, at no cost to the federal government.

“The Port Harcourt to Maiduguri narrow gauge railway will have new branch lines: from Port Harcourt to Bonny and from Port Harcourt to Owerri are new lines. There’s another connecting narrow gauge to standard gauge at Kafanchan. There is a branch line from Gombe to Damaturu and Gashua. That’s what has been approved,” he said.

In the same vein, Madumere also commended the approval of $462 million for realization of Bonny Deep Water Seaport.

Prince Madumere described the both project as very strategic to the ongoing repositioning of the country towards achieving a self sufficient and reliant economy.

The statement reads, “The former Deputy Governor of Imo State feels elated reading about the approval of Port-Harcourt to Maiduguri railway line. The good news is that it will have branch lines in the Eastern Region, thereby bringing about proper articulation in the agricultural and productive sectors of the economy.

“President Buhari has consistently proven his patriotism and passion to ensuring the country realizes its potentials through some of his policies and programmes.

“The second Niger Bridge under Buhari was never a promise but a promise kept because it is about 70 percent near completion”.
