ONDO 2020: Madumere Congratulates Gov. Akeredolu On Resounding Victory

Says Unity In The Party Did The Magic

The former Deputy Governor of Imo State has congratulated Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State on his resounding victory in the last Saturday 10 governorship election where he won 15 of the 18 local government areas of the state.

Madumere who joined the campaign team last week said the election showed Governor Akeredolu has performed to the expectation of the people of Ondo State.

Imo former Deputy Governor who spoke in Akure shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission declared Akeredolu winner of the election, winning 15 of the 18 local government areas of the State according to results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission’s returning officer and vice-chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Idowu Olayinka.

Olayinka announced that a total of 572,745 valid votes were recorded while 18,448 were rejected, and about 16,000 votes cancelled.

Akeredolu had polled 292,830, Mr. Jegede scored 195,791 votes, a difference of 97,039 votes.

Also in the race was the incumbent deputy governor in the state and candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Agboola Ajayi, who came third by polling 69,127 votes.

Madumere revealed that another factor that led to the sweeping victory of the incumbent was the oneness and unity among the party leaders and members. He commended the APC National Chairman of the Caretaker Committee for setting up a very proactive team in the Campaign Council led by the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

He also commended all Progressives Governors who contributed immensely to ensure that no stone was left un-turned, including high profile personalities who took part in the campaign. He particularly singled Olusola Oke (SAN) out for working working closely with the Governor towards victory.

“I saw it all. Our party was one and had unity of purpose. Chief Olusola Oke (SAN) was just doing it with the Governor.

“The Yobe State Governor and the Chairman of the National Caretaker of our great party, All Progressives Congress must be commended for setting up a goal getting campaign council that plotted the strategy that worked.

“I saw other high profile leaders of our party who showed interest in presence and in action. I commend everyone. For me, Governor Akeredolu and his wife have shown be love. So, I am here as a party man and also to personally show solidarity to his cause because he is simply a good man; a jolly good fellow with good sense of judgement.”

He however charged Governor Akeredolu to do more by working even more for the people as posterity will remember him well.

He also urged him to be magnanimous in victory and carry everyone along since he is the governor of Ondo people, including the opposition parties.
