Hoodlums Burn Police Station In Akure
Hoodlums have razed the A Division police station at Adegbemile junction in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
Several vehicles within the premises were also torched.
Some policemen on duty fled for safety after the hoodlums overpowered them.
The Nation Ondo Police Commissioner, Bolaji Salami, has visited the scene to ascertain the level of damage.
Ondo Police spokesman, ASP Tee-Leo Ikoro, confirmed the incident but promised to provide further details the next day.
Deji of Akure Kingdom, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, Odundun II, expressed worries over the dangerous and chaotic dimension of the #ENDSARS protest in Akure.
Oba Aladetoyinbo said he believed in the right of the people to peacefully protest and demand for good governance.
Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Adeyeye Micheal, Oba Aladetoyinbo appealed to youths not to engage in wanton destruction of properties and burning of properties while pressing home their demand.
He condemned the shooting of innocent and harmless youths at the Lekki toll gate and other parts of the country.
According to him: “His Majesty commiserates with the families of these gallant youths who lost their lives in this tragic situation while demanding for a better life. They remained heroes and heroines of the struggle for a better Nigeria.”
