Imo Police Command Confirms Kidnap Of Catholic Bishop of Owerri Diocese

While Imo State had received the reported case of kidnap of the auxiliary Bishop of Owerri Archdiocese of Catholic Church, Bishop Chikwe Moses with a pinch of salt as most people had considered it a rumour, Imo state Police command has finally confirmed the unfortunate incident.

The incident was confrimed by Imo state Police Public Relations Officer, Orlando Ikeokwu, on Tuesday.

He stated that the Commissioner of Police in Imo State Isaac Akinmoyede has activated the command’s Quick Intervention Team (QUIT) and the Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU), to move into the matter with a view to rescuing the Bishop and possibly arrest the hoodlums.

By the revelation of the Archbishop of Owerri, His Grace Archbishop Anthony Obinna, the priest was said to have been kidnapped on Sunday night.

Meanwhile, there has not been any form of communication from the kidnappers since his kidnap.

From the sources, the kidnapped Bishop is being touted to take over from Archbishop Anthony Obinna who has just retired.
