Four Amotekun Operatives Under Intensive Care After Attack By Hoodlums In Ibadan

Four operatives of the Oyo State Security Network codenamed Amotekun are currently battling for survival in the hospital after they were attacked in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on Friday.

The operatives and some policemen were attacked by hoodlums in Odeyale area of Ona Ara Local Government area around noon. They were said to have been attacked with axes, cutlasses and other dangerous weapons.

Four of the operatives were rushed to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.

Confirming the incident, the Commandant of the corps, Col. Olayinka Olayanju (rtd) in a statement, said the operatives moved to the area following a distress call by Odeyale Community Landlord Association to help dislodge hoodlums perpetrating violence in the community.

He said the operatives were attacked with machetes and axes, adding that four of them with severe injuries were currently receiving treatment at the ICU of the UCH.

He said the corps has commenced investigation into the incident.

Though policemen were also attacked along with Amotekun operatives, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state Mr Olugbenga Fadeyi, was unavailable for comment.
