Gov. Uzodimma Commended By Imo Communities On Rural Development
The people of Ahiazu Mbaise local government of Imo State have commended Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo state for his effort in rehabilitating impassable roads across the local governments.
The NewsTrack Nigeria (newstrack.com.ng) visited to know the feelings of the people on the ongoing road maintenance, which were hitherto in very bad shape.
Touring the strategic economic roads, it was an outpouring of commendations following the rehabilitations across the communities ensuring that the roads are in condition before the rains so as to ameliorate the sufferings of the masses as a result of bad roads.
Grassroots development remains the core of all developments because it is the only way to curb crimes and unnecessary rural-urban migration.
What is needed to engender development at the rural areas is to ensure that infrastructural facilities are in place – power, passable roads, clean water, hospitals and other financial policies that create room for project financing.
Speaking with the Chairman of the local government, Chief Larry Obinna Chikwe, he commended Governor Hope Uzodimma, describing him as a great leader who understands the import of rural development.
“My people of Ahiazu Mbaise are happy with the ongoing rural road maintenance. What is important is to use this period of dry season to ensure the roads are graded and given facelifts. When we cried to the Governor, he already had that in mind and expressly approved. He did not stop there; he also deployed tractors and other earth moving machines for the purpose.
“We have started and we shall ensure that it goes round Ahiazu communities. This will help in inter socio-economic activities among the communities. The same thing is happening in other local government areas. From all indications, Uzodimma said interest in the prosperity of all may not be far from the truth.”
Our checks showed that major strategic roads have been graded. We visited Umugara-Obohia Road and Lude-Oru-Ahiara Road, Umueleke Umuzu Road, Umuohuo Aforuzi to Umuaji to Eziama boundary.
Getting to Opara-na-dim ward and many other wards, there was certainly joy in the faces of the locales grading but as the Chairman had promised, it will get about two wards remaining. Ahiazu-Mbaise has 12 electoral wards among some of them are Okirikaama, mpam, otulu-aguneze ward, ogbe, Uchieze-ihitteaforukwu, Ogbo-Umueze, Amuzi-Ihegweulo.
When major interconnecting roads receive facelifts, they will surely make living easier and create room for trade and social interactions.
For Comrade Udochukwu Onyewuchi, “We must commend our amiable Chairman who understands the pulse of the governor by ensuring the good work of developing our communities are carried out. We pray God grants our Chairman and the Governor more wisdom as they continue to lead our people right.”
Meanwhile, the rehabilitations are ongoing simultaneously across Imo communities.
