Friday Eboka Assumes Office As New Rivers Commissioner Of Police

The new Commissioner of police for Rivers State command, CP Friday Eboka has assumed office in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

This development was disclosed in a statement by the spokesman of the state command, Nnamdi Omoni on Friday.

He stated that the new CP has officially taken over office from the former CP, Joseph Mukan in a brief handover ceremony at the command headquarters.

Eboka is the 42nd CP in the state. He took over from the immediate past CP, Joseph Mukan who was promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police, and has been redeployed to Kogi State in zone 8, Lokoja to serve as zonal commander.

The statement reads in part, “Eboka Friday has taken over duties and responsibilities of the Rivers state Police command from AIG Joseph. G. Mukan psc(+) who was recently promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police and redeployed to zone 8 headquarters lokoja as the zonal commander.”

He said the current CP hails from Ika South Local Government Area of Delta state and holds a Bachelor of Science degree BSC(Hons) in Political Science from University of Nigeria (UNN) Nsukka.

According to him, “CP Eboka was appointed into the Nigeria Police Force as a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in 1998 and on completion of his training was posted to Delta State, where he did his one year compulsory attachment and later served in various Police departments across the country, including Lagos, Bayelsa, Abuja Kano, among others.

“CP Eboka was the immediate past Commissioner of Police, Railway Police Command, from where he was found professionally competent and redeployed to the State as the 42nd Commissioner of Police,” he said.
