Second Republic Lawmaker, Mohammed, Dies At 73

Second Republic lawmaker, who represented Kano at the House of Representatives, Dr. Junaid Muhammad, has died aged 73.

The deceased’s son, Suleiman, who confirmed his demise, said Junaid died on Thursday night after a brief illness that lasted for three days.

It was gathered that he died in isolation although it was not clearly established whether he died of COVID-19.

His family also confirmed that was to be buried yesterday, Friday.

As at press time, the Minister of Investment and Trade and other sympathisers had started to troop into the deceased’s home, located at No. 60 Lamido Crescent, Kano, to sympathise with the family.

A known critic of government in Nigeria, Mohammed, born in Dala, Kano State, was one of the founding members of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) in 1976, under the leadership of the late Mallam Aminu Kano.
