Senator Okorocha In Detention For Alleged Forceful Entry, Thuggery, Vandalism
The former Governor of Imo State and Senator representing Imo West at the Senate, Rochas Okorocha is cooling his feet in Police custody for alleged forceful invasion of sealed premises, thuggery and vandalisation of government vehicles, leaving many with various degrees of injuries.
Shortly before his arrest this afternoon, Okorocha in company of his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu had led a group of youths said to be his supporters given cover by some armed men to break into Royal Palms apartment, which was recovered by the Imo State government following the recommendation of the Commission of Enquiry constituted under the former Governor, RT. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha.
Sources close to NewsTrack Nigeria (newstrack.com.ng) revealed that Okorocha had taken the sealing of the said premises as a slight and thereby planned a show down to prove a point.
In concert with the prescription of the white paper from the Commission of Enquiry, which Okorocha variously refused to put in appearance to defend himself, Imo government through the Commissioner for Lands, Hon. Enyinnaya Onuegbu had sealed Royal Palms apartment, one of the properties alleged to have been built with Imo looted funds by former Governor’s wife, Nkechi Okorocha.
Meanwhile, the incident which occurred along Akachi Road caused a vehicular logjam with many scampering for safety as guns and other dangerous weapons were freely used.
