OPOCA TO OKOROCHA: Apologise to Ndi Imo, Uzodimma Or Face Recall

OPOCA TO OKOROCHA: Apologise to Ndi Imo, Uzodimma Or Face Recall

The Orlu Political Consultative Assembly (OPOCA) has threatened to initiate a recall process of the former Governor of Imo State and Senator representing Orlu Senatorial District (Imo West) if he fails to appologize to Gov. Hope Uzodinma and Imo people after 48 hours.

OPOCA, an apex political body in Orlu Zone said Okorocha’s action where he broke into a sealed property purportedly owned by the wife has brought shame to the State and her people.

The national president of OPOCA, Barr. Rex Anunobi, flanked by other national officers in a press conference on Tuesday at the NUJ Press Centre, Owerri, said “OPOCA after an extra-ordinary emergency meeting is using this medium to give the former Governor and Senator representing Imo West in the National Assembly, Owelle Rochas Ethelbert Anayo Okorocha 48 hours from today to apologise to Governor Hope Uzodimma, the Shared Prosperity Governor and Imo people for the shame his recent but uncivilized action has brought to the State. If after 48 hours Okorocha fails to apologise to our Governor and Imo people, OPOCA will be left with no option but to initiate a Recall Process that will aim at exiting Rochas Ethelbert Anayo Okorocha from the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”.

The full text of the press conference reads:

  1. The Orlu Political Consultative Assembly (OPOCA), as you are all aware, is the apex political body in Orlu Senational District otherwise known as Imo West, which comprises of 12 Local Government Areas of Imo State.
  2. We wish to state categorically without fear of contradiction that OPOCA has overtime and in strict pursuance of its sacred but core mandate of protecting without compromise the individual and collective political interest of Orlu sons and daughters both home and in Diaspora.
  3. That we have taken time to observe the conduct of the former Governor of Imo State and Senator representing Orlu Senatorial Zone, Owelle Anayo Ethelbert Okorocha since he vacated office and particularly the event of Sunday February 21 where the former governor and lawmaker alarmingly took brigandage and lawlessness to another level.
  4. Recall that a few days ago, the State Government acting in accordance with a gazetted White Paper and in line with the “RECOVERY” tripod upon which the Shared Prosperity Government of Distinguished Senator Hope rest, sealed a property known as Royal Spring Palm located along Akachi Road and purportedly owned by Okorocha’s wife.
  5. Gentlemen of the press, you will all agree with OPOCA that the only option available to Okorocha in the instant case, whom as a matter of fact, had occupied the Office of Governor of Imo State and presently a serving Senator whom by implication should know and decode the meaning of Judicial Panel of Inquiry and White Paper gazetted by the Government; if he indeed feels otherwise or disagrees with the action of the State Government was to approach the Court, threw caution to the wind as he brazenly invaded the said property hitherto sealed by the Government with dangerously armed thugs and domestic hoodlums, and was clearly caught on camera himself driving the security vehicle away from the gate while his rampaging hoodlums pushed. This is untowardly an irresponsibility, lawlessness and rascality unexpected of a former Governor, Senator of the Federal Republic and a suppose statesman.
  6. You may also recall that when Okorocha’s second term almost crashed in 2015, it was OPOCA under “ORLU for ORLU” that intervened by mobilizing and appealing to Orlu sons and daughters to support him irrespective of the dangerous but anti-democratic symptoms he crassly displayed during his first term. It is also worthy of mentioning at this juncture that when Okorocha came crying profusely to OPOCA upon perceiving danger, it was OPOCA that swiftly moved to Okigwe Zone and Owerri Zone and pleaded with key political stakeholders/allies, like OZOPOLF and Okigwe Mandate Union who had earlier and fiercely opposed his second term bid before Okigwe and Owerri was finally and fully mobilized in his support. Please note that the political intervention of OPOCA as at that time was considered not neccessarily to save Okorocha as a person from a looming defeat but to protect the collective and overriding interest of Orlu Zone.
  7. Rather than respond to the yearnings of Ndi Imo, Okorocha irredemably became a colossal disappointment as his second term witnessed kleptocray, familiocracy, fraud, senseless land grabbing and lawlessness of a monumental order. There is no gainsaying that Okorocha’s eight years as a Governor was a disaster and shamefully a setback to Orlu Zone and Imo State. If not so, how do you explain the failure of the former Governor and now Senator from fixing the road leading to his countryhome after eight years? Are you not aware that Okorocha fraudulently spent billions of Imo money on Owerri-Orlu road which was no doubt a death trap until our God-sent Governor, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, audaciously awarded the road to a competent and world class construction company, the Craneburg?
  8. It is therefore in view of the foregoing that OPOCA rises to condemn in strong terms the brigandage, thuggery, hooliganism and lawlessness criminally unleashed against the State by Okorocha and his domestic hoodlums on Sunday February 21.
  9. OPOCA after an extra-ordinary emergency meeting is therefore using this medium to give the former Governor and Senator representing Imo West in the National Assembly, Owelle Rochas Ethelbert Anayo Okorocha 48 hours from today to apologise to Governor Hope Uzodimma, the Shared Prosperity Governor and Imo people for the shame his recent but uncivilized action has brought to the State. If after 48 hours Okorocha fails to apologise to our Governor and Imo people, OPOCA will be left with no option but to initiate a Recall Process that will aim at exiting Rochas Ethelbert Anayo Okorocha from the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
  10. We also in the same vein call on our dear Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma not to be distracted by the antics of the former Governor by fully activating all instruments of the Law and State powers to recover all that was looted by Okorocha, his family members and cronies for Ndi Imo. We also on the other hand enjoin Imolites both home and Dispora to support our God-sent Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma whom within a short period is speedily transforming Imo via massive road projects, people-oriented programmes and policies.

Long Live OPOCA!
Long Live Orlu Zone!!
Long Live Imo State!!!
Long Live Federal Republic of Nigeria!!!!

OTU OLU, OTU ORLU!!
