NCAA, AZMAN Air Lock Horns Over Grounding Of Flight Operations
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and AZMAN Air have locked horns in the controversy leading to the suspension of flight operations.
Citing safety reasons the regulator said the carrier has consistently experienced three accidents in the last six weeks.
NCAA said it shut the operations of the airline to enable it carry out serious safety and technical audit on its operations.
But, the airline is protesting that action of the regulator alleged that other carriers which experienced similar incidents have not been grounded.
To clear the air on the matter, the NCAA on Friday exposed the many infractions of the airline saying it could not be blackmailed by an erring operator.
In a statement by the General Manager, Public Affairs, NCAA, Mr. Sam Adurogboye said the NCAA would not ordinarily have bothered to respond to allegations by the airline and would rather focus on its core mandate of ensuring safe and secure air transportation in Nigeria.
