Judge’s Transfer Stalls Case Against Obasanjo’s Ex-Aide

A Federal High Court in Abuja has suspended its scheduled hearing in a case brought against ex-Energy Adviser to then President Olusegun Obasanjo, Prof Anthony Adegbulugbe, over the ownership dispute in Green Energy International Ltd.

The court had, on January 19, this year adjourned hearing in the case till March 23, for counsel to the petitioners.

When parties and their lawyers got to court on Tuesday, court’s officials said the judge was unavailable and rescheduled hearing for May 4 this year.

It was learnt that Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu, who is handling the case, is one of the judges recently redeployed out of the Abuja division and is expected to resume on April 12 in the court’s Calabar division.

Plaintiffs in the case marked: FHC/ABJ/PET/20/2020 – Dr Bunu Alibe and Mr Ayo Olojede – who claimed to be directors in the company, are alleging injustice, cheating and demanding N250m in damages.

Alibe and Olojede, in the case with Adegbulugbe and Green Energu listed as respondents, accused Adegbulugbe of engaging a series of a corporate misdemeanours, including unilateral usurpation of executive responsibilities, contrary to the provisions of the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA), 2020 and the firm’s Article of Association.

They claimed to have been unlawfully removed by Adegbulugbe, who is the Chairman of the company they jointly nurtured to fruition.
