How ONENESS Foundation Celebrated Easter With Over 200 Indigents In Imo
A non-governmental organization under the aegis of ONENESS Foundation put smiles on the faces of vulnerable citizens during Easter celebration, calling on well meaning individuals and governments to join hands to uplift vulnerable in the polity.
The event which was tagged “Hunger Relief’ for the indigents held in major parts of Owerri, the capital city of Imo State that plays host to most of the vulnerable citizens. The NGO fed over two hundred people.
The President of ONENESS foundation, lady IJeoma Edithmary Price stated that it is the duty of the non-governmental organizations to bridge the gap in areas governments may not directly intervene.
Among those who received ONENESS foundation largesse were homeless women with their children, homeless teens, the physically challenged, the aged among other less privileged persons.
Price, who spoke through the programme director Engr. Ken Nnabuife said that the programme is part of its objectives to reach out to the vulnerable demographs with a view to finding ways to help them out of hunger ,strife ,homelessness, and feeling of dejection and rejection by the society .
“There is no society or any cadre of a populace that is shielded from hunger and poverty. if we all experience strive, cold, sickness and other natural occurrences, how much more those who do not have means of livelihood, shelter and most times food to have a minimum living standard”, he stated.
Therefore, he called on all and sundry to join hands to cater for the vulnerable section of the polity, warning against the dire consequences they can bring upon the society.
“ Most of the vulnerable groups often take to crimes, prostitution, cultism, drug addiction and peddling among other societal ills when not catered for, strategically and positively indoctrinated.
On how the foundation has been meeting its programmes and set objectives , he said that the NGO has been self-reliant based on the effort of the President but seeks partnership for donations and financial support .
