Police Kill Six Bandits In Niger

The Joint Security Task Force in Shiroro local government area of Niger has killed six bandits during an operation to repel attack by the bandits in Garkogo district.

The bandits were said to have attacked some villages around Garkogo but were repelled by the Joint Taskforce on grounds.

Sources said the task force acted on a tip-off about the attack on the villages on Saturday morning and laid in wait for the bandits.

Several other bandits were said to have escaped with serious bullet wounds as have fled from the villages on their motorcycles.

This breakthrough by the Joint Security Taskforce is coming three weeks after bandits attacked the camp of the task force and killed five soldiers and one policeman in Allawa.

It was learnt four of the bandits were killed on the spot while the bodies of two were seen on a farm as they were said to have died from bullet wounds.

The Niger Police Command is yet to issue any statement regarding on the incident.

Calls and texts to Niger Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun have not been answered at as the time of filing this report.
