SSS Should Withdraw Phony Charges Against Abuja #EndSARS Protesters, Adeyeun Imoleayo Michael – Ademiluyi

A Lagos based fiery legal Practitioner, Ayo Ademiluyi has called on State Security Service (SSS), to withdraw what he described as phony charges leveled against #EndSARS protesters.

Ademiluyi particularly flayed continual detaintion of Mr. Adeyeun Imoleayo, a Soft Engineer on trumped charges.

In his statement, Ademiluyi demands that SSS drops the trumped-up it charges it hatched against Michael, promising SSS that it will face all actions within the armbit of the law for infractions on his fundamental rights.

The statement reads:

I write to demand that the State Security Services (SSS) should withdraw trumped-up charges against an Abuja-based #EndSARS protester, Adeyeun Imoleayo Michael.

I am seized of the fact that Mr. Adeyeun Imoleayo Michael is a Software Engineer and
was abducted by officials of the State Security Services in his residence in Abuja , the Federal Capital Territory on the 13th November, 2020 at about 2.30am in the presence of his 7 months old son, wife and aged mother, after the #EndSARS protests.

I have confirmed that he was taken to custody by the State Security Services , which illegally misnames itself as Department of State Services (DSS), where he was detained in an underground cell for 41days without any form of communication to his family as regards his whereabouts.

I have also confirmed that he was eventually charged to court for conspiracy with others to disturb the public peace before he was granted bail.

I am aware that the State Security Services (SSS) is still bent on prosecuting him on trumped-up charges for participating in the #EndSARS protests.

The Director General of the State Security Services is hereby given notice to withdraw the said trumped up charges against him, failing which it will face all actions within the armbit of the law for infractions on his fundamental rights.
