ENUGU NIGHT Of HORROR: Suspected Fulani Cattle Traders Chase Policemen, Govt Officials With Ak-47 Riffles

– As Group Blame Federal Government For Abating Crime

It was an evening of horror, as suspected Fulani Engaged Policemen in gun duel Thursday evening at Artisan Market in Enugu State.

According to sources, the Court had ordered the demolition of Artisan Market, having described it as a security threat because of its proximity to the Government House.

According to an eye witness, the officials of Enugu State Government with policemen had arrived the market to carry out the court order only to face a stiff resistance from the AK47 wielding Fulani Cattle Traders who chased both the government officials and the policemen.

Artisan Market is considered a centre of heinous criminal activities and hide out for hoodlums,

Legit.ng says that Enugu State Commissioner of Police confirmed the incident.

According to reports, Commissioner of Police said that the matter had been resolved as the Fulani Traders have agreed to move to an agreed location

Meanwhile, a Civil Society Group by name Voice From The East has condemned the attack, calling for Investigations into the activities of bother Herders and cattle Traders, calling for their disarmament.

The Convener of the group, Comrade Kindness Jonah recalled the death of a policeman who was killed in the same Artisan market and nobody has been punished since the incident.

He said that because of the death of the police officer who he identified as an Igbo man, Enugu House of Assembly through a motion directed that the market be shut down but the Fulani Cattle Traders were defiant, but instead used the market as an arsenal of arms build up.

“We call for the demolition of the market and ensure that those found culpable in the act of gun running should be brought to book.”

He blamed Federal Government of tacitly given the Fulanis teeth to bite, worrying about the consequences, which he said is already here. “The country is already divided and is at the verge of dissolution.
