Madumere Condemns Attack On Uzodimma’s Country Home, Killings
– Worried Over Consequences Of Insecurity in South East
The former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere has condemned attacks and destruction of Governor Hope Uzodimma’s Country home and the killing of security personnel, calling for strategic engagement for peace.
Prince Madumere’s statement was expressed through his Media Adviser, Uche Onwuchekwa.
The former Deputy Governor described the incident as dangerous, uncivilized and retrogressive.
He however decried the spate of insecurity in the South East, warning of the dire consequences it could bring upon the zone.
The statement reads in parts:
“We are not known for blood letting and destruction of what have been laboured to build from our common wealth.
“Meanwhile, we are crying of developmental deficit in the State and South East in general. If we continue in this line, it will only dislocate the region and probably bring about retrogression of unimaginable magnitude.
“This is so because by the time we plough all the funds in the purse in security, it follows that infrastructure, health care, human capacity building and social services will be adversely affected.
“The only way out is dialogue. We must come to table to talk and fashion out a way forward.
“Nigeria is no doubt is bedeviled by purveyors of banditry, insurgency and terrorism and we cannot defeat these purveyors of crises in the country.”
He also called for vigilance while calling on Imo Leaders of thought to rally round Governor Uzodimma and his colleague Governors in the South East to nip the brewing calamity in the zone and it’s immediate neighbours.
