Merge ESN, Ebubeagu, Barr. Ifeanyi Unaeze Urges South East Governors

Following the tensed atmosphere in Nigeria has refused to go away with wanton security challenges across the country, there have been efforts to nip the hydra headed monster in the bud.

Like a pandemic, the wind of insecurity has arrived the Eastern region with agitation across board for self determination.

It is either the fear of killer Herders or banditry or Miyetti Allah threatening fire and brimstone.

In response, most regions in their bid to save their people from annihilation came up regional security arrangement, which gave birth to Amotekun in the South West.

In the South East, the failure of South East Governors to proactively respond to the situation created a vacuum, which led to the emergence of Eastern Security Network, an offshoot of agitators of self determination for the South East and by extension the old eastern region.

Playing catch up due to their sidon look attitude, the Governors of the South East on April 11, 2021 launched Ebubeagu, which seems to have created another challenge.

Following perceived challenges on what happens to the already existing security arrangement, Barr Ifeanyi Unaeze, in his proposition seeks the understanding of the Governors and leaders in the region to optimally utilise the two security Networks to tackle insecurity in Southeast

Unaeze who is a Lagos Based Legal Practitioner and Public Affairs Analyst, asked Governors of the southeastern part of Nigeria, to laise with the Eastern Security Network and merge it with the EbebuAgu Security Network, in order to guarantee optimal productivity in the protection of lives and property of its citizens.


Barr Unaeze stated this in an interview with Newstrack Nigeria (newstrack.com.ng), while reacting to the current security challenge in the zone.


He noted that ESN and EbebuAgu Security Networks, have the same target, which is to protect people of the southeastern part of Nigeria against banditry, adding that both security institutions cannot be working at variance with each other.

He noted that southeast would surmount its present circumstance, while calling on the citizens to ensure they don’t polarize the already fragile situation but to work with government in putting insecurity to a stop.

He further asserted that southeast would remain the most peaceful zone in Nigeria, even as he enjoined the media to apply caution in reporting news about the present happenings in Imo State and other states in the zone.

The Legal Practitioner, however commended the leadership strides of Governor Hope Uzodimma in the last one year, adding that the governor has performed so well in the areas of road construction, health and human capital development, while expressing confidence that the Governor overcome the present security challenges, bedeviling the state.
