Madumere Salutes Imo Workers On May Day, Hails Uzodimma On Welfare

The former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere, has joined other well meaning Imolites to congratulate Imo Workers on Workers Day describing them as true agents of Development.

The former Deputy Governor made the statement through his Adviser on Media & Publicity, Uche Onwuchekwa.

He commended them for their resilience and consistency even in the face of challenges that could have grounded the economy and make life difficult for many, especially during the peak of covid-19 pandemic and other natural disasters.

He also commended Governor Hope Uzodimma for his assurances on the welfare of the workers, encouraging him to keep up the good work.

“I see buses that have been conveying Imo workers to their various offices and also take them back home after work. It is one of the initiatives I commend Governor Hope Uzodimma for.

“The Governor is commended for his effort at digitizing workers salaries and that of the pensioners, which will bring about a sustainable solution to issue of accusations and counter accusations of fraud in payroll system and the actual number of Imo workforce and the retirees.

“This year’s celebration borders on the health and safety of the workers. While Government is doing its bits and expected to do more, free buses are of great importance in reducing the risk the workers take on daily basis while finding their way to work,” he pointed out.

The statement reads:

“I join other well meaning good people of Imo State to congratulate Imo Workers on Workers’ Day.

“This Day otherwise known as International Labour Day is dedicated to celebrate workers and labourers around the world.

“It is a day of encouraging workers to be aware of their rights and privileges, thereby creating room to either curb exploitation and improve the their welfare.”

He added that workers must remain consistent in their work schedule describing them as the true agents of Development since politicians come and go.

“The workers, especially civil servants are the only institution that ensure there is continuity who also provide the needed administrative guidance with legal procedures. This ensures that necessary codes of conducts and other due processes are followed.”

While reminding workers that they inalienably patriotic partners in national development and encourage them not to derail from the call of state and national duties.
