NewsFlash: Imo Security Debacle: Pandemonium In Owerri As People Scamper For Safety Over Ceaseless Shootings

There is tension in Owerri metropolis this Tuesday evening as people scamper for cover over sporadic shootings around Ikegbu layout and Weatheral road Owerri, Imo State.

This has continued since 8:00 pm till the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, Douglas Road is also reported to be enveloped in few fear with sustained gunshots from unknown persons.

The capital city of Imo State is fast becoming a war zone as no day passes by without reports of gun tottering and tales of woes from residents caused by either known security agents or unidentified gunmen.

Recently the Police and Army have been accused of arresting innocent persons and taking them to an unknown destinations, fearing what might become their fate.

A popular Radio presenter, Theodore Nonso had requested of the immediate past Imo Police Public Relations Officer to comment on the the ongoing trend of alleged abduction of youths by security personnel, SP Orlando Ikokwu simply denied saying he had no such knowledge.

The residents of Orji area of Owerri metropolis also narrated sour tales of how suspected fleeing gunmen abandoned a Hilux van in the middle of the road and disposed a commercial driver of his mini bus without any harm.

According to an eye witness who simply gave his name as David, the incident happened around 7:30 pm.

He however said: “Nobody was harmed as they appeared as though they were fleeing the small bus to disguise themselves.

It is dangerous to move around the area mention to avoid being hit by stray bullets.
