Alleged Murder: Court Remands Suspected Cultists
A Tinubu Magistrate’s Court in Lagos Thursday remanded three suspected cultists following their arraignment for alleged double murder.
Mr. Paul Ademola, before whom they were brought, remanded the trio – Okiki Raji, Okelia ThankGod, 20, and Seun Ademakin, 27 – pending legal advice from the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The defendants, whose addresses were not given, are facing a temporary two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and murder, preferred against them by the Police.
Police Prosecutor Inspector Abraham Fadipe alleged that they committed the alleged offences at about noon on February 20, 2021, at Gbara Market in Ajah, Lagos.
According to him, they belonged to an unlawful society known as Eiye Confraternity and engaged in disorderly and indecent conduct which threatened the peace in Gbara Town.
Fadipe alleged further that the defendants, while armed with pistols, cutlasses, axes and other dangerous weapons, unlawfully killed one Kevin with an axe and a cutlass.
The court heard that the defendants, at about 3pm on the same day at Celestial Church Gbara Town, allegedly unlawfully killed one Moses.
According to him, the offences contravened Sections 411 and 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendants’ pleas were not taken.
Following the remand order, Magistrate Ademola adjourned proceedings till August 30.
