Buni, Uzodimma, Yahaya Bello, Sylva storm Abia for Emenike’s mother-in-law’s burial

All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors and chieftains at the weekend stormed Abia State for the burial of the late Lady Felicia Olaocha Ohadiugha.

The late Ohadiugha was mother-in-law of the secretary of APC Contact and Strategy Committee, Chief Ikechi Emenike, and mother of Nigeria’s Ambassador to the U.S, Dr Uzoma Emenike.

The burial ceremony took place at Umule Ohuhu in Umuahia North local government of Abia State.

Among the dignitaries were the national caretaker committee chairman of APC, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo and Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State.

Others include Senator Abubakar Gada, Senator Iyiola Omisore, Rep Nkiru Onyejeocha, Minister of State for Solid Mineral and Steel Development, Mr. Uche Ogah, Minister of State for Petroleum, Chief Timipre Silva and Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Registrar Ishaq Oloyede.

At the funeral mass held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church Umule Ohuhu, political leaders were tasked to put aside their political differences and commit themselves to restoring peace in Nigeria.

Rev Fr Sylvester Anyanwu, who delivered the message in his homily at the funeral mass by the Catholic Bishop of Umuahia, Most Rev Lucius Ugorji, assisted by 18 priests, lamented the high level of insecurity in Nigeria hence the need to make peace.

He urged every Nigerian to imbibe the principle of “live and let live”.

The cleric asked political leaders to promote peace and attract divine blessings, adding, “let’s give peace a chance”.

The cleric said every well-meaning Nigerian should be concerned at the spate of bloodletting across the nation, adding that people have become refugees in their own land.

Rev Fr Anyanwu, who is the parish priest of St Ambrose Parish, Eziama Ubakala, said without peaceful coexistence, people would not live their normal lives, engage in lawful pursuits and development would be pushed back.

“Whenever you are, wherever you come from, let’s embrace peace, ” he said.
