Madumere Commends Governor Uzodimma On Accountability

– Says Democratic Governance Without Feedback Is Irresponsibility

The former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere has called on politicians to always create a feedback mechanism through which they can account to the people.

Madumere made this call while reacting to Governor Hope Uzodimma’s last Saturday Imo State stakeholders meeting, insisting the people are sovereign.

He described the idea of getting to the people as not only responsible but responsive in governance.

He hailed Uzodimma for the new tradition of carrying everyone along, including opposition elements and those who are shy of politicking.

He commended Uzodimma in the area of security of lives and property, Road construction and rehabilitation and youth empowerment.

“In democracies, the people are sovereign. It is wrong for government to consider itself as Lord and consider the electorates as serfs.

“It is only in true democracy that a servant leader convoke a Congress, town hall meetings or even a call -in programmes to answer to citizens curiosity on certain policies and programmes of government.

“This is the reason I align with Governor Uzodimma on his stakeholders meeting, which is one in the series. Any act of governance in a democratic government without a feedback to the people is sheer irresponsibility.

“Senator Uzodimma has done well in the management of security, quality road construction and rehabilitation.

“In the area of recovery, he has so far kept that promise. There is no doubt that challenges abound in various areas but I know his thinking is to do far better.

“I commend him and I implore him to continue on the path of honour.”
