Breaking: Ondo 2020 Guber Legal Challenge: Supreme Court Upholds Akeredolu’s Election

Four Justices of the Supreme Court of Nigeria has upheld Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s candidacy as the All Progressives Congress Standard Bearer in Ondo October 10, 2020 Governorship election.

This is against the minority judgement by three justices which holds that Akeredolu’s candidacy is a nullity.

The majority judgement stands despite the ill feelings of the minority reservations.

This was an appeal filed by Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Eyitayo Jegede.

Not satisfied with the decision of the Appellate Court, both Akeredolu, Jegede, and INEC approached the Supreme Court for the invalidation of both the Election Petition Tribunal and Appeal Court.

With the development, Akeredolu is expected to now concentrate in ensuring he delivers on his social contract with Ondo people.
