Ward Congress In Imo Is Ongoing, No Restraining Order – Imo APC
Contrary to the information being shared on some social media handles that there is a court order stopping APC Ward Congresses in the State, the All Progressives Congress, Imo State Chapter has debunked the information, describing as fake news.
In a statement by the Director General, APC Media Centre, Cajetan Duke, said there was restraining order of any kind, describing the information as misleading since there was no restraining order from the court.
The Statement in full:
APC WARD CONGRESS IN IMO STATE HOLDS AS SCHEDULED.
-THERE IS NO RESTRAINING COURT ORDER.
The attention of the state caretaker committee of the All Progessives Congress, APC, Imo State chapter has been drawn to a reckless scribbled story on social media platforms purporting a restraining order against the conduct of our ward congress. We are not unmindful of the sponsors of such mischievous and misleading publications. For the avoidance of doubt; There is NO COURT ORDER restraining the party from the conduct of it’s scheduled ward congress in Imo tomorrow.
We are however aware that the former governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha had through his proxy Okay Anikwa, approached an FCT High Court seeking injunction to stop the APC from holding its Congress in Imo albeit unfruitful, as the court presided by Justice Valentine Origi in his wisdom declined such obnoxious motion.
Just this evening the executive governor and leader of our great party in Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma hosted critical stakeholders of the party in a pre-congress parley where he demonstrated his commitment to building APC into a robust, vibrant, inclusive and attractive political party in Imo.
The party therefore wishes to inform all our esteem members as well as aspirants to various ward positions to disregard any contrary announcement to this effect as the Congress holds tomorrow Saturday July 31, 2021 as earlier announced.
