*DAILY BREAD – A DEVOTIONAL FOR THE CHILDREN*

EASTERN NIGERIA UNION CONFERENCE CHILDREN’S MINISTRIES

*Theme* : I Will Go

Monday, August 2, 2021

Topic: Cain –the First Murderer.

_Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let’s go out into the field.” So Cain and Abel went into the field. Then Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him. Gen. 4: 8, ICB_

Have you ever taken first in life before? May be first in mathematics, or English Language, or History, or Bible knowledge, etc.? What about being numbered first in doing what is bad? Not good at all!
The Bible tells us that Cain is the first person to kill another person in this world; in fact, he killed his own brother, Abel. The Bible says that God was not happy with Cain; that God cursed him for killing his brother. Then Cain ran away from his parents and God. He lived with the curse till he died. Too sad! But don’t you think you can do like Cain? When you as a child of God tell lies against your brother, sister, or against anyone else, you are simply killing the person like Cain did to Abel. When people collect money to support evil against others, they are like Cain. And God is never happy with such persons.
As children of God our duty is to love one another, and it is what Jesus calls us to do; so that we can be blessed by Him, instead of receiving a curse like Cain.

*Song* :
All to Jesus I surrender; All to Him I freely give;
I will ever love and trust Him,
in His presence daily live.

Chorus:
I surrender all, I surrender all, all to Thee my blessed savior, I surrender all.

*Prayer* :
Father in heaven, I thank You because of your love for me; help me to love my brothers and sisters the same way you love me; remove the spirit of evil and murder from my heart. Give me a heart like Christ. And be with me till the end, I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
